Chittagong, Bangladesh: The Bangladesh authority will hold to talk with Burma to stop smuggling of Yaba (methamphetamine) and other drugs, Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun said while speaking at a workshop as the chief guest in the conference room of Narcotic Control Department (NCD).

"We will hold talks with Myanmar on October 23 and 24 next to stop smuggling of drugs."

“Indian government is currently smashing illegal factories of drugs along the borders in a bid to reduce drug smuggling."

"It is necessary to make the country drug free to build 'Digital Bangladesh' by 2021."

“To stop the menace of drug, need for concerted efforts and cooperation of NCD, police, RAB and other law enforcement agencies.”

The Home Minister called upon all to form anti-drug organization in each area and raise campaign against drug to create awareness among the people.

"It is impossible for a single force to deal with the matter, as international gangs are involved in illegal drug peddling."

"One might die in a gun attack while a total family becomes ruined in the attack of illegal drugs," the Home Minister mentioning the adverse impact of drug on people.

"We have lost Taka 200,000 million each year for purchasing illegal drugs and the number of addicted people in the country is now stands at 46,000,000,"  according to Home Secretary Abdus Sobhan Shikder.

Among others, Director General of Ansar and VDP Maj Gen Md Zahidur Rahman and Director General of NCD Khandoker Mohammad Ali also spoke on the occasion.

Beside, 2,500 yaba with eight peddlers were arrested in difference area of border yesterday, according to official from border.
