Teknaf, Bangladesh: A flag meeting was held in Maungdaw Town between Burma’s border security forces (Nasaka) and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on December 26, at around 11 am on border issues, according to a BDR official.

The Bangladesh delegation had seven members led by 42 BDR Battalion Commander Lt. Col Mujammal Hussain of Teknaf while Major Nay Myo , the Commander of Nasaka area No. 6 led a eight-member delegation.

At the meeting, the BDR asked Nasaka the reasons for erecting barbed wire fencing on the Burma-Bangladesh border and deploying of the army along the border.

The Nasaka Commander denied deploying of forces on the border and said that erecting barbed wire fencing on the border area will be resolved after discussions between the two countries.

The BDR also brought up the issue of Rohingyas illegally entering Bangladesh. The Nasaka assured that they will cooperate with the BDR in preventing Rohingya infiltration to Bangladesh. 

The meeting was concluded at around noon, said an aide of BDR in Teknaf
