Seven-villagers sentenced to five years in jail in Maungdaw |

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Seven Arakanese Rohingya villagers were sentenced to five years in jail each on February 1 by the Maungdaw court. The conviction was to do with the murder of two Natala villagers’ by unknown miscreants on September 24, 2009, said a close relative of one of the victims in Maungdaw.

Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh: Five Arakanese Rohingya refugees were arrested by police on February 3, and sent to Cox’s Bazar jail while on their way to Cox’s Bazar from Nayapara camp to work, said a relative of one of the arrested refugees who declined to be named.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Sarapa (Military Intelligence) killed a Rohingya man after torturing him severely on January 4, in Maungdaw Town, Arakan State, after calling him to their office, according to a close relative of the victim on condition of anonymity.
