Halima Khatun (4) is the daughter of Nur Mohammed of the Dum Dum Mea makeshift camp. Halima received head injuries. She was sent to the clinic of the Medicines Sans Frontier (MSF) of Holland. But, MSF referred her to Teknaf and then she was referred to Cox's Bazaar hospital. The patient's condition was critical.
On August 22, she was again sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment. All the expenses will be met by the MSF, said the father of the victim.
The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. while the minor girl was crossing the road. A micro bus was heading for Teknaf from Cox's Bazaar. After the accident, the driver fled with the car to Teknaf. The refugees were unable to remember the number of the car and were unable to file complaint at the police station.
The refugees of the makeshift camp are prone to accidents while crossing the road as the camp is situated on the bank of the Naf River and next to the main road between Teknaf and Cox’s Bazar, 7 km north of Teknaf town, said a Majee from the camp.
