Teknaf, Bangladesh: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested six Bangladeshi drug traffickers with nearly 2986 Yaba tablets at Bangladesh-Burma border on February 14 - 15, said a local elder from Teknaf

“On being tipped off, the BGB personnel from Dum Dum Meah check post searched two motor bicycles  where the BGB personnel arrested five drug traffickers with 1996 Yaba tablets on February 14 .”

The smugglers were identified as Ali Akbar (30), Rafique (50), Mohamed Abdullah (28), Shizan (18) and Saiful Islam (18).

Later, they were handed over to Teknaf police station for further investigation. The seized motor bicycles were also handed over, BGB official said.

However, police has filed case of drug trafficking against them in the Teknaf police station, according to official.

Besides, on February 15, BGB personnel checked an auto rickshaw (CNG) and found 990 Yaba tablets from a Bangladeshi Dil Mohamed (30) of Palongkhali village, said an aide of BGB.

“He was handed over to Teknaf police station for further investigation.”

The both operations were led by Company Commander Shohab Hossain, official said.

According to sources, the Bangladesh authorities have alert on Yaba smuggling and other smuggling goods along the border because of smuggling goods have increased across the Bangladesh day by day.
