Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) seized with a large number of Yaba (methamphetamine) tablets along the border following a raid from May 14, said M.Anwar, a local trader from Teknaf.

After being tipped off, the BGB raided in different places along the border and seized over 1300 Yaba tablets.

On May 14, BGB arrested a Bangladeshi woman with 297 Yaba tablets from Dum Dum Meah check-post at Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf high way.

Fatem Khatun (30), wife of Mostak Ahamed of Eidgha under Cox’s Bazar district was arrested with Yaba tablets from Mini bus after investigation. Later, she was handed over to Teknaf police station, official said.

Besides, on May 15, BGB also seized 497 Yaba tablets from Dum Dum Meah check-post from Special Mini bus following a raid. Nobody was arrested in the process.

Similarly, on May 16, the police of Teknaf raided and seized a private car with 136 Yaba tablets while it was stopped at Teknaf bus station. The same day, police also seized 398 Yaba tablets from a resident house of Teknaf.

Many Yaba tablets and other drugs come to Bangladesh from Burma by  drug traffickers who live along the Bangladesh-Burma border.
