Arakanese Rohingya missing after arrest by Nasaka in Maungdaw |

Maungdaw, Arakan State: An Arakanese Rohingya has been missing since February 8, after Burma’s border security force’s (Nasaka) arrested him from his relative’s house in Maungdaw, Arakan State, said a relative of the victim preferring not to mention his name.
The victim is identified as Nurul Islam (35) from Saret Oo village of Maungdaw Township. Two years ago, he fled to Bangladesh from Arakan State to avoid persecution by Nasaka and has been living in Zadi Mora village of Teknaf union by renting a house. However, he went to his native village secretly to see his ailing relative on February 8. But, this was told to Nasaka outpost camp of Mingala Gyi of Maungdaw Township. So, Nasaka personnel from Mingala Gyi outpost camp went to the village and arrested him from his relative’s house. He was handed over to another Nasaka camp Longadaung Nasaka camp, where he was severely tortured. According to an aide of Naaska, hot water was poured on his nose, and he was forcibly made to walk over nails at the camp. His relatives believe that he was killed in the camp by the Nasaka and his body removed. On February 9, a group of relatives went to the Nasaka camp for information, but got none.
