More Rohingyas pushed back to Burma PDF Print E-mail

Teknaf, Bangladesh: More Rohingyas were pushed back to Burma after being arrested by Ukiya police, while returning to their camps after working outside. On 26 December, 19 Rohingya refugees were pushed back to Burma from Anziman border point by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), said a refugee on condition of anonymity.

A BDR personnel Abul Basher from Balu Khali BDR camp said that 19 Rohingyas were pushed back to Burma at about noon after being arrested from border areas.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Keria from Teknaf police station said that all the Rohingyas were arrested from Teknaf-Cox’s Bazaar Road following a combing operation. They were handed over to the BDR.

The arrested Rohingyas were identified as Nurul Alam(28), Noor Alam (29), Hussain Ahmed ( 45), Abdullah(35), Abdul Malek(28), Md. Rofique(22), Rashid Ahmed(25), Jamal Hussain, Md. Yunus(28), Md. Salim(22), Md. Shaffique( 12), Zahid Hussain(12), Rohim Ullah(19), Zubair(28), Ms Mostafa Khatun(30), Arafa Begum(25), Rashida Khatun(28),  Rashida Begum(22), and Tufail (19). They all belong to Maungdaw Township.

Besides, on December 24 and 25 another 20 Rohingyas were arrested by Ukiya police and pushed back by BDR to Burma, said ASI Shokot from Ukiya police Station in Cox’s Bazaar district. 

Since 22 December, 75 Rohingyas were pushed back to Burma, according to the Ukiya police.
