Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 25 Rohingya from Shapuri Dip under Teknaf Police Station on April 12, said a local from Shapruri Dip.

The group was arrested from Bazaar Guat of Shapuri Dip by BGB officers while they were taking shelter in a local resident’s house after crossing the Naff River by rowboat.

Among the arrested were six males, eleven women, and eight children.

After arrest, they all were deported back to Burma through the illegal point of Shapuri Dip the same day.

Another local said, “Some of the Rohingya came to Bangladesh for medical treatment, and others came to here to visit their relatives who live in the refugee camps.”

BGB officer Lt. Col. Mohamed Zahid Hasan from Battalion No. 42 confirmed that they were arrested from Shapuri Dip and forced back to Burma.
